Sue's A to Z of Fashion

Spring / Summer 2010

Again we see a season full of contrasts.

Whites and nude flesh tones dominate fashion this Spring, with sugar almond pastels also popular. These are very difficult to wear head to toe. Do make sure you are choosing your most flattering shade of white as a very bright white is probably the hardest colour of all to pull off, even with a tan!

Then we have the vivid pinks, reds and blues. We have solid blocks of colour versus bold techno prints. There is much less black forecast, though it will never disappear!

More volume, structure and texture is in evidence to add strength to the looks and compensate for all the pastel shades.

The biggest accessory this season is skin! Lots of it on show! Very tiny skirts and a strong Boudoir influence lead the trends, so the men will be happy! But for those of us who prefer something a little more subtle there are beautiful sheer fabrics worn in overlays.

Other big trends are:

• Sporty (with track pants, swimsuit style shorts and rolled up hems)

• African tribal (bold, colourful prints, heavy necklaces, tie dyes)

• Urban Military ( khaki jackets with fewer pockets and less detail and combat pants).

Here is a more complete listing of what you can expect to find in the shops.
